Beerware is in Wikipedia, therefore it exists.
I asked my friend, Ted, who is president of a software company, and he'd never heard of this, but no doubt he will be producing exclusively beerware from now on.

I can imagine a giant shadow economy of beer purchasing agreements spreading over the land. Inevitably there will be beer futures, discount beer houses, and beerecessions. Soon, there will be a shadow economy of currency, traded only among teetotalers, while the rest of the world waddles drunkenly into the Future.
